| Bio: | I'm on LJ because my bestest friend ![[info]](http://p-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif) otterblossom pulled me on here. I only actually started posting a lot after I realized a lot of people from the Bujold email list were here and I started reading their journals and that inspired me to start posting in my own. It's very cool, I've now gotten to know a lot of them better by reading their LJs and by interacting with them.
I finished my PhD at Duke in November 2003 and moved to England. I'm now a post-doc doing research on mitochondrial DNA disease. It's a lot closer to helping people than my Ph.D. research, which somehow became important to me over the last few years. It's still basic research, but with a strong clinical, patient-driven aspect.
I've been married more than 9! years to my wonderful husband Tom and have been living in Newcastle upon Tyne, England since mid-December 2003. I only moved here because my husband got a really great job here, he's a Lecturer (the equivalent of a tenure-track beginning faculty position in the US). He really loves it here and I'm starting to get used to it.
We had Sean at the beginning of 2006, and I love being his Mommy/Amma. I'm back to work full time after a six month maternity leave. Life is generally very good these days! ;-D
